What Can I Do For You as an Independent Agent?

July 19, 2012 By Jon DeKok

I became an insurance agent in 1981 as a captive agent. I agreed to provide insurance for my customers through one insurance company.  I was successful,  however, there were a lot of times my customers needed some type of coverage which was not available, or the rate was too high.  Also, if the company had a large rate increase, I had no alternative to offer.

I am now an independent agent and owner of DeKok Insurance Group, Inc..  We represent over 12 great insurance companies.  All have some of the highest ratings available. Which means, they are financially strong and treat their policyholders well.

As an independent agent, I am able to take your information and shop my companies for the best rates and coverage’s.

As a customer of DeKok Insurance Group, Inc. you not only have a personal agent who is here for you, but you also have some of the best protection and lowest rates available anywhere at one place.

Some of the policies we write are – Auto Insurance, Homeowners Insurance, Mobil Home Insurance, Rental Dwellings, Boats, ATVs, Motorcycle insurance, Motorhome insurance, Business Auto Insurance and Business Owners policies of all kinds, including Workers Compensation.

Feel free to call, or email us for a quote request! Have a question about insurance in MN? 507-226-8121.

Trust & Branding

July 17, 2012 By Jon DeKok

My wife Joy and I have been feeding birds in our yard for many years.  One of the things we like to do is put out grape jelly for the Orioles.  This year is no exception.  We purchased the same brand of jelly as before, but something had changed.  The consistency of the jelly was different. We put it out anyway, trusting the brand we had purchased.  I’m not sure what they did differently, but the birds were not as fond of it as before.  We tried a new, jelly, and the birds are loving it again.

The price of the new brand is a little higher than the original, but the birds we feed, like it a lot and know the difference.

Are you in a similar situation with your current insurance?

As an independent insurance agent, I represent over 12 insurance companies that many of you have heard of. They all have A or higher ratings by the insurance rating companies. This means they are financially stable and treat their policy holders well.

They are trusted.

We are confident we can offer most of our clients, and prospective clients, better coverage than they now have at better prices. Over 50% of the time, it is a substantial savings. Are you getting the best value for your insurance needs or has something changed? Please call (507-226-8121) or email me ([email protected]). I will find the best value I have to offer, and present it for your review.

It’s easy!  It’s free! And, it may save you a lot of money!

Minnesota Weather. . .Now & Then

May 10, 2012 By Jon DeKok

Minnesota is a state of dramatic weather: in the winter of 1881, snow drifts were as tall as locomotives.

The 1881 Minnesota tornado outbreak struck southern Minnesota on July 15, 1881. At least six tornadoes touched down between 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, killing 24 people and injuring 123.

New Ulm – 1881

The 1883 Rochester, MN tornado hit on August 21, 1883. It was one in a series of tornadoes that day, causing at least 37 deaths and over 200 injuries. It was (at least in part) the impetus for the creation of the Mayo Clinic. On July 21, two other tornadoes struck the area. An F4 (estimated by the amount of damage and eyewitness reports) tornado was one of a family of storms that killed 4 people near Dodge Center (15 miles west of Rochester), and that devastated Elgin, 10 miles northeast of Rochester.

Rochester, MN 1883

2012: Some states have already been hit hard by tornadoes. What does this mean for homeowners? Will they raise their rates?

It’s sometimes assumed insurance companies can increase prices whenever they want to – this is false.

When there is a large amount of storm damage in a state, companies may raise the prices they charge for homeowner’s insurance. Although it’s commonly assumed that insurance companies can raise their rates randomly, this is not true. All change to an insurance company’s rates must be applied for and approved by the state’s insurance commissioner. To learn more:  http://mn.gov/commerce/insurance/

Scoot!

May 3, 2012 By Jon DeKok

MP900182423[1]

Scooter sales are economical and fun!

Interesting Scooter Facts:

  • Women are 3 times more likely to purchase and use a scooter than men.
  • Although less powerful than many models, motor scooters are motorcycles. That means you’ll need to take a riding course, get a motorcycle license, and purchase insurance.
  • A few scooters have 800cc engines, which catches them up to some motorcycles.
  • Some scooters get up to 100 miles per gallon of gas.
  • Many models are designed to allow a passenger to ride along.

Most insurance carriers offer inexpensive policies and all the safety experts urge scooter riders to purchase full coverage.

If you have a scooter or are thinking about buying one, call 507-226-8121 for a quote. You could save on more than gas – at DeKok Insurance Group we offer 95% of the people we quote better pricing. We offer all our clients better coverage.
