After 27 years in the insurance business, I took a 2-year hiatus.

When my rates increased dramatically, I started to research other companies. Like you, I’m an insurance consumer, and I was surprised by the differences in policies (better coverage) and how many companies had lower prices. When a brokerage sought me out 5 years ago, and I discovered they represented all the great companies I’d found, I decided to get back into the business.

When a brokerage sought me out 6 years ago, and I discovered they represented all the great companies I’d found, I decided to get back into the business.

As an independent agent with the SIA of the Great Lakes, I have direct contact with 15 of the largest, most respected, and by far the most financially solid companies in the insurance industry. Within the larger brokerage, I have access to 50 more.

My goal as an agent is to provide my clients with the right policies at the right prices.

My wife and I have been married for almost 40 years. We live between Rochester and Pine Island on 35 acres of fields and woods with our dogs Sophie & Tucker. Joy is my marketing assistant and sometimes answers the phones at the office. She’s also an accomplished author with several books in publication. She will be a frequent guest blogger here.

When I’m out of the office, I like to spend time on our land. We take the dogs for John Deere Gator rides and I am cleaning up a lot of downed trees. We planted our tillable acres in wildflowers and created a wildlife habitat. 

This is the 2nd “from scratch” agency I’ve started. It’s a lot of work getting the word out, but I have to tell you – it’s worth it. It’s great to say that 90% of the time I am saving my clients money while increasing essential coverages. This is my kind of business – where we all win.

My wife, Joy, is our marketing assistant. She manages this website, our mailings, and my professional page.

Joy is also a published author and amateur photographer. She enjoys car rides with Jon, time with family, coffee with friends, long walks, John Deere Gator rides with Sophie & Tucker, bird watching, reading, wildflowers, and she is planning on taking some long hikes at MN State parks in 2017.
